Times Square NYC
Feb. 10 - 20, 2011
If just a few of the thousands of passersby help hold the heart high in the air for a minute, it could levitate indefinitely. This is a call for groups, couples, and individuals to come together as a collective to take part in holding the heart.
Please visit Times Square February 10 - 20 to participate in this special Valentine event.
The heart is a ten-foot diameter lightweight construction with an open weave fabric that allows wind to pass through, but still captures and reflects light. The main structure is constructed of aluminum elliptical loops radially arranged with rotating connections. The fabric skin integrates the cross-grain substructure of flexible ribs with the main loops.
Without volunteers, the heart lies flat on the ground. Only when the group lifts up the structure does it become a heart!
We are looking for six people for each fifteen-minute interval over the ten-day event from February 10 to February 20, 2011. That's over 2,600 people, so tell all your friends!
Before participating you will need to sign the terms & conditions. Copies will be available at the event.Come to Father Duffy Square at the intersection of 46th Street and Broadway in New York City. Bring your loved one or meet someone new and share in this collective experience!
You will be holding the heart for at least 15 minutes together with up to five other people. It is light and easy to hold, so you do not need to be strong...just spirited.
